Welcome to RoomRate.com, your one-stop source for direct hotel booking rates in newark. Offering Discount Hotel rates within newark's downtown area.

Founded in 1666, Newark is America's third oldest city, and the city has a rich history that can be seen in its pedigree of native sons and daughters. Names from its proud past are everywhere, from parks designed by Frederick Law Olmstead to sculptures completed by Gutzon Borglum, the same person who designed Mount Rushmore. Institutions like the Newark Public Library and New Jersey Historical Society bring to life the lessons of Newark's past for the benefit of today's residents.

The same Puritans who settled New England at the opening of the American experiment also founded Newark. Great developers and inventors encouraged Newark’s industrial endeavors in the late 18th century. The local banking industry began in 1804 with the creation of Newark Banking Company. Prudential and Mutual Benefit were founded in Newark and remain national leaders of the industry. The list of 19th century notables from Newark includes Thomas Edison, Rev. Hannibal Goodwin, and Edward Weston.

Newark is New Jersey's largest city, with a population of approx. 275,000 and is located 13 miles southwest of midtown Manhattan. Newark has a bright future ahead with new developments popping up throughout the downtown area; the streets are cleaner and safer, and businesses are also moving back into the city. Planned projects for its professional sports teams include a new basketball & hockey arena, as well as a new soccer stadium.
